Originally from Mexico this variety has hairy leaves and black seeds unlike other chilli's. It is also known as Rocoto in Peru, Manzano in Mexico and the Locoto in Bolivia. Manzano means apple and share characteristics, the shape of the pods look similar to apples and the plant can grow up to 4m and very tolerant to cold climates. 
 
Flavor
Has a nice juicy pods, great for salsas, stuffing, pickling and any sauce. 
 
Pod
This variety produces 4 x 4cm pods, starting green maturing to a bright yellow and has black seeds.
